Overview

Patrick Cowen (1794-1873) and his wife, Luranah Wilson (1796-1881), daughter of Daniel Wilson (1765-1852) and Ann Wilson (1775-1808), had eleven children, 1817-1841. According to the family group sheet, Patrick Cowen was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, the son of Robert and Mary Malvina Newport Cowan. He was an itinerant Methodist minster and a carder and hatter. The family lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, and Illinois. He died at Georgetown, Vermilion County, Illinois. Includes a family group sheet for Robert Cowan (d. after 1832) and his wife, Mary Malvina Newport (1771 or 72-after 1832). They were the parents of twelve children, born 1791-1814. The family lived in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

The 1790 census for Westmoreland gives an adult Patrick Cowan as HOH. Can't be this same person, could be his father, but the above record indicates his father was Robert Cowan=Mary Malvina Newport.
