OBITUARY

                                 PATRICK BURNS, FATHER OF PASTOR SUCCUMBS

    Patrick Burns, contractor, father of Reverend James H. Burns, pastor of St. James Church, died yesterday morning at his home, 216 Merriman Avenue.  He had been in failing health for several months but his illness did not become serious until two weeks ago.
    A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Mr. Burns was associated with W.J. Burns Construction Company, founded by his nephew, for many years, and his contracting jobs included several buildings of the H. H. Franklin Manufacturing Companies plant.  He had resided at the Merriman Avenue home for 40 years.
    Mr. Burns was one of the oldest communicants of St. Lucy's Church.  Surviving are three sons, Samuel V., Robert F., and Edward J. Burns, and three daughters, Mrs. Alfred Pratt, Mary H. and Sadie Burns.
    Services will be held at 9:00 tomorrow morning at the home and at 9:30 o'clock at St. Lucy's Church.  Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
