A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2006 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden for 79 year old Oleva Rachel (Wenck) Kennebeck of Glidden. Mrs. Kennebeck passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames. A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2006. Interment will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Born on April 9, 1927 at Carroll County, Iowa, Oleva was the daughter of Harry and Hulda (Fricke) Wenck. She was raised on a farm north of Lidderdale. She graduated from 8th grade from country school near Lidderdale. She worked as a hired girl on farms caring for other families. She was married to Frank Kennebeck on December 11, 1946 in Carroll. They lived in Lidderdale until 1959 when they moved to a farm place south of Glidden. They lived on various farm places through the years. She cared for her family and worked very hard on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, bird watching, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Casket bearers will be her grandsons and honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters.

Surviving are her special friend Don Willey of Glidden; four daughters: Pamela Scanlan and her husband Jim of Denison, Iowa, Linda Lyons and her husband Arnie of Jefferson, Iowa, Angela Tuel and her husband Tim of Glidden, and Brenda Vaughn and her husband Tom of Glidden; nine grandchildren: Frank Scanlan and his wife Katya of Virginia, Jodi Schroeder and her husband Bob of Scranton, Lisa Schoessler and her husband Greg of Des Moines, Kelli Hosenfelt and her husband Matt of Carroll, Travis Tuel and his wife Shelly of Glidden, Donny Tuel and his wife Katie of Glidden, Jessica Schulze of Glidden, and Aleva and Laura Vaughn of Glidden; nine great- grandchildren: Zackary, Quinten, Dylan, Jonathan, Anna, Dawson, Morgan, Trevor, and Blake; a sister Lola Weiderin and her husband Gene of Lidderdale, a sister Violet Boell of Carroll, a brother Bill Wenck and his wife Bernice of Carroll, and a brother John Wenck and his wife Jane of Lidderdale. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 1990, a brother-in-law Bill Boell, and a sister-in-law Lorraine Kennebeck.
