About Obediah Basham

Obediah owned 50 acres of land worth $150, one horse, two cows and three calves. In Feb 1823 he sold the land to Henry Basham. One horse and some money went to pay his debts.

Obediah was a private in the Regiment of Col Parker in the Virginia Line for three years and was placed on the Kentucky Pension Roll at $8 per month under the Act of 1818 from 25 July 1818. Certificate #9411 was issued 14 April 1819.

Some sources say Obediah was the son of William Basham or James Basham or Jeremiah Basham.

One source notes Obediah was the son of James Basham (born bef. 1746 in Cumberland County, Virginia and died after 1830) and Frances Mary Taylor. They married on 20 Mar 1762 in Fauquier Co., VA. Frances was the daughter of Benjamen Taylor and Elizabeth.
