2006- in college dad would put $1.00 in an envelope and say it was a HISTORY LESSON _________

Sun Dec 5, 2004 while walking at TARGET I remembered that when my dad went away on business, he always brought my mother TURTLE candy.

____________ met while working at Peoples Trust and Saving. When they decided to get married one of them had to quit. It was the depression and many people were without jobs. Vera Alt left.

My mother wore brown velvet. They danced in her parents kitchen and wore the pattern off of the floor.

It was on THANKSGIVING Thurs, then defined as the last Thursday of November. She never had an anniversary on THANKSGIVING, because the president then changed the definition to the 4th Thurs.

Her sister stood up for her and Julian for his brother N.X.K.

While traveling through NEW ENGLAND the fall of 2004, Marilyn remembered traveling with her parents. Henry Voors was "GASSED" in WWI and for his health moved to California. Matilda's sister Rose went for a visit and didn't return to Indiana because of her marriage to Horace.

In California, Matilda would move to Rose's for the time we were there or when they would come here, Matilda and Marilyn would be bed partners and Matilda would tell stories. Matilda told of going with other girls in high school to a fortune teller, who said that she would live near a big body of water. Matilda never dreaming of California, thought the FUTURE might be near Chicago and Lake Michigan.

We traveled to California in 1950 - 54 - 58 and 1962. Norbert has home movies of the first trips and maybe slides of the others. In 1950, the trip was in the fall and Halloween was in California. I attended only 1/2 year of kindergarten because of the trip. In 1954 Mathias Alt had just died and so my mother invited her {Loretta Lee Alt} mom to go with us. In 1958 the trip must have been in early June. I can remember my mother's sister very UPSET that we didn't stay home for several more days until after high school graduation.

By 1962 I could drive.

They also came here every 4 years, probably in 48 - 52 - 56
