Information on Niclaus Coblentz
Hans emigrated to Philadelphia at The age of 45 years, on October 7, 1743, on ship St. Andrew, Robert Brown, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes. He settled in Adams County (formerly York co.) Pa., near littletown and took out a warrant from penn and had 1999 acres surveyed in German Township, York County, on May 31, 1762, in his name, Hans Nicolaus Koplentz (from a surveyor's plot by Archibale McClean-RE: York County Historical Society No. 11966 and land office, Department of Internal Affairs at Harrisburg, Pa.)
This same land was resurveyed for Herman Coblentz July 23, 1765, "in right of his father, Hans Nicolaus Koplentz for 211 acres and 84 perches, The tract called "Koplentz." Herman obtained a patent June 7, 1767, "The appurtenence unto his son, Herman Koplentz." Tradition advises The Hans Nicolaus Coblentz emigrated from Fort Coblentz-on -The-Rhine, Prussia.
