    Vol. 4, p. 758-9, Whitmarsh, John.

"About 1644 a description of the land of Nicholas, Richard, Onesephorus and Simon Whitmarsh mentions 'nine acres in the westerneck first given to their father John Whitmarsh dec'd.' Also, in a description of John Harding's land mention is made of land 'which he gave to the aforesaid John Whitmarsh sonn of the aforesaid John Whitmarsh.' Hence John Whitmarsh, Sr., died near 1644." [This also proves the parentage of his various sons, including Nicholas.]

  3. Estimated birth range based on marriage in 1658 (to be of legal age, 21, he would need to be born bef. 1638) and fact that he is not listed on the Hull's Company passenger list of 1635 (see NEHGR, p. 25:13) when his parents emigrated, so born after that date.
  4. Source:Vital records of Weymouth, Massachusetts, to the year 1850, p. 1:353, gives the birth of Nicholas' son John on 22 Nov 1675, so he couldn't have died bef. 1675 and there is no reason to think that he didn't live some years past this date.
