    This is the last Will and Testament of me Nathaniel Arnold the elder of Southam in the County of Warwick yeoman made the eleventh day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four I give and devise unto my Son William Arnold his heirs and assigns all that Close Piece or Parcel of Land or Ground situate lying and being in the Parish of Southam aforesaid which I bought and purchased of Thomas Bradford Esquire to hold the same with the appurtenances unto and to the only proper use and behoof of my said Son William Arnold his heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless and I do hereby charge the same with the payment of the sum of fifty pounds a piece unto my two Grandsons John Cooke and William Cook Son of my Daughter Elizabeth Cooke to be paid to them upon their attaining their respective ages of twenty one years but without Interest I give and bequeath unto my Son Nathaniel Arnold his heirs executors and administrators the Pew or Seat in the Parish Church of Southam wherein I usually sit I give and bequeath my other Pew or Seat in the same Church unto my Daughter Mary Arnold her heirs executors and administrators I give and bequeath all my Estate right title term and Interest in and to the Lands and Premises which I rent under Mark Pearman Esquire and Mary his Wife unto my said Son Nathaniel Arnold his executors and administrators but the Crops of Corn or Grain which may be growing thereon at the time of my decease if any I hereby will and direct shall not pass by this bequest but shall be taken and considered as part of my Residuary Property and I hereby direct my Executors hereinafter named to pay the Rent and Taxes for such Land until such Crops of Corn and Grain shall be harvested I give and bequeath my Household Furniture Plate Linen and China but not my dairy and brewing utensils unto my Daughters Mary Arnold and Elizabeth Cooke I give and bequeath all my Rick Staddies(?) Corn? Garners in the Barns and my Chaft? still in the Granary unto my said Son Nathaniel Arnold his executors administrators and assigns to and for his and their own use and benefit I give and bequeath unto my Friends William Norris and Richard Allen the elder both of Long Itchington in the said County of Warwick Gentlemen their Executors Administrators and Assigns all the growing Crops emblements? Corn Grain Hay and other produce and all the Horses Cattle Sheep Pigs Implements in Husbandry Dairy and Brewing utensils and also all my ready money Securities for money book and other debts and all other my personal Estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever not hereby otherwise disposed of upon and for the trusts intents and purposes hereinafter expressed and declared that is to say upon trust as soon as conveniently may be after my decease to receive and collect all my specialty and simple Contract debts and sell and convert the Residue and remainder of my said Personal Estate and effects into money and do and shall stand possessed of my ready money and the money to be received and collected and to arise from the sale of and concerning the same that is to say upone trust to pay and satisfy all my just costs Funeral expences and the charges of proving this my Will and in the next place to retain to themselves the said Richard Allen the elder and William Norris the sum of ten pounds each as a token of my respect for them and upon trust to pay thereout unto my Daughter Mary Arnold the sum of one thousand pounds with lawful Interest from my death unto my said Son William the sum of fifty pounds without Interest and to my Grandson William Arnold Son of the said Son Nathaniel Arnold and to my Granddaughter Alice Arnold daughter of my said Son Nathaniel Arnold the sum of ten pounds each of like lawful money likewise without Interest and I do hereby direct that the said several legacies given to my said Grandson and Granddaughter shall if they shall be under the age of twenty one years at the time of my decease be paid to their Father the said Nathaniel Arnold to and for their own use and benefit and that his Receipt shall be a good and sufficient payment aforesaid to pay the residue and remainder of the money and the money to arise and be produced from such Sale and conversion as aforesaid unto my daughter Elizabeth Cooke to and for her sole and separate use and benefit and I declare that here receipt alone shall be a good and effectual discharge for the same notwithstanding her [...] and I declare it to be my Will that the Receipt and Receipts in [...ing] of the said William Norris and Richard Allen and the Survivor of them and the executors and administrators of such Survivor respectively shall effectually discharge all and every Person and Persons paying in or accounting for any part of parts of my Personal Estate or the aforsaid trust monies and that such purchaser or purchasers shall not afterwards be bound to see to the application of the same or any part thereof and it is my Will that my said trustees and the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators shall be charged and chargeable respectively only for such monies as they or he shall actually receive by virtue of the trusts hereby in them reposed although they or either of them shall only be answerable for himself and his own acts and that they shall not be answerable for any Banker Broker or other Person with whom or in whose hands any part of the said trust monies shall or may be deposited nor for any other misfortune loss or damage in the execution of the trusts of this my Will unless the same shall happen by or through his or their own wilful default respectively and that it shall and may be lawful to and for my said Trustees or trustee to retain and reimburse themselves and each of them respectively and to allow his Cotrustee by or out of the Funds estates and premises comprized in or to arise under this my Will notwithstanding the legacies I have hereinfore given to them all costs charges damages and expences as well for their loss of time as otherwise which they or either of them shall or may suffer sustain [exp...] [...] be at or put unto in or about the execution of the aforesaid trusts or any of them or in relation thereto and lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said William Norris and Richard Allen Executors of this my Will and I do hereby revoke and make void all other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this alone to be my last Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I the said Nathaniel Arnold the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament written and contained in four sheets of Paper set my hand and Seal in manner following that is to say to the first three sheets my hand and to this fourth and last sheet my hand and Seal the day and year first herein written -- the mark and Seal of Nathaniel Arnold -- Signed Sealed Published and Declared by the within named Nathaniel Arnold the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses -- Anna Burman, Rich'd Burman, Thomas Bishop Servant to Mr. Burman
