Update 2010: The note below is now obsolete. The conclusion has been confirmed by the finding of John Potter as father of the bride in the Morgan County VA records of the marriage of John Rockwell and Nancy Potter.


There are two Potter families in early 19th C Morgan County, Josiah and John.

Both have a daughter in the age range of Nancy (1820 census).

Josiah Potter of Morgan Co., VA is not know to have had have a daughter named Nancy or Anne. Also, Nancy and John Rockwell did not name any of their children Josiah., but named a son John.
