Facts and Events
John was drafted at the age of 23 into the Confederate army, although his sympathies lay with the North. He evaded the officers and migrated to Bloomington, McLean Co., IL in 1861.
He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad from 1863 until his retirement 5 years before his death.
He had one son only.
