Disambiguation

NOT to be confused with Nancy Crow (1764-aft. 1805), this Nancy Crow's AUNT. Some researchers have confused and conflated the two Nancy Crows. They both married men named Thomas Gragg [which no doubt has caused the confusion], but Census records clearly show that this Nancy Crow, daughter of Benjamin Crow (1757-1832) and Nancy Gragg (1759-1835) was born abt. 1798 in Greene County, Tennessee and died 8 Feb. 1861 in Bates County, Missouri.

    Nancy Crow married Thomas Gragg (1795-1862) of Cocke County, Tennessee, abt. 1819/20 in Tennessee. Their first 2-3 children were born in Tennessee prior to their migration to Polk County, Missouri. They later migrated to Bates County, Missouri where Thomas and Nancy died and were buried in the Gragg Cemetery.

    Note: There has been considerable confusion among Gragg researchers about Nancy Crow and her husband Thomas Gragg, who have both been conflated with another Thomas Gragg (b. abt. 1761-bef. 1827) and Nancy Crow (1764-aft. 1805), the other Thomas Gragg being the UNCLE of this Thomas Gragg, hence the confusion. Census and other records clearly show that the Nancy [Crow] Gragg buried in the Gragg Cemetery in Bates County, Missouri was born 1798 in Tennessee and not in 1764.
