    Mordecai McKinsey was born 2 May 1784, in Newberry County, South Carolina to George W. and Sarah Moore McKinsey.
    There were nine siblings in his family, David, Abigale (Ham), Mary (Elmore), Samuel, Nehemiah, Sarah (Spray), George W., Annie Naomi (Spray) and Patrick.

    Mordecia McKinsey married Catherine Reagan who was born in South Carolina in 1784. There were eight children born of their union. Children were Nehemiah, Reason, Sarah, Mercer, Alfred Sanford, Jesse R., George W., and Mary.

    Mordecai McKinsey died on 7 February 1853 in Clinton County in the Buntin Cemetery which is 1 1/2 mile southeast of Antioch.
