[edit] Records of Millie BranhamNelly Sisson, wife of Caleb Sisson, departed this life on Thursday the 22nd of September, 1774. Interred at dwelling place of John Thelban, formerly her grandfather John Marks residence. [Source: Branham Family Bible Records, 1766-1855, http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/orange/bibles/bramham.txt]. (Note: this bible record provides at least circumstantial support of Nelly (Branham) Sisson being a grand-daughter of John Branham, whose family records were contained in the Branham/Bramham Family Bible records, referenced above. She was most likely the eldest child of John Branham, Jr.).
[edit] Information on Millie BranhamFrom Rootsweb.com post: From: "Gayle Buresh" <geburesh@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [SISSON] Nellie Millie BRAMHAM w/o Caleb SISSON Date: Tue, 19 Feb 2008 16:02:56 -0500 In-Reply-To: <8CA4148CAD682EA-EF0-9E4@Webmail-mg03.sim.aol.com> Hi - I found records of Caleb and Nelly's marriage record as well as the baptismal record for their son Stanley while researching for DAR historical proof. The birth record is from Virginia Vital Records #1, 1600s-1800s, "Some Orange County Virginia Birth Record: contributed by Geo. H. S. King, of Fredericksburg, VA, page 421. The marriage record is from Colonial Virginia Source Records, 1600s-1700s; Marriages of Virginia Residents Vol II, Part III, Surnames R-S, Page 173. Both records are available online through http://www.genealogy.com. I live in Orange County, VA and have access to Genealogy.com through Germanna Community College here. Nelly is the first wife, and Stanley was their only child. He married Sarah Roach afterward. Nelly BRAMHAM SISSON w/o Caleb died 22 Sep 1774. She was buried at dwelling place of John THELBAN, formerly her grandfather - John MARKS's residence. This is from BRAMHAM family Bible record 1766 - 1855. Nellie Branham's parents were John Branham, Sr. and Mary Marks, daughter of John Marks. Nellie Branham and LudLow were brother and sister. Culpeper County Virginia Wills and Administration, Will Book A, 1749-1770 shows: " Marks, John, 1759". His will names his daughters and proves their husbands as follows: "Item After my wifes thirds comes out of my Estate all the rest my desire is that it should be equally divided between my three Daughters(Viz) Anne Moore, Mary Bramham and Sarah George."This will and associated doccument indicate his son- in-laws as "Harbin Moore, John Bramham,Jr and Isaac George" In a deed on 2 May 1777, Caleb and his brothers, William and George sold 198 acres of land which their father Bryan had secured from Govanor Spotswood. The wives of William and George are named as parties of the first part, but Caleb is named alone, so by that time Caleb's first wife, Nellie Bramham, had died, and he had not remarried. |
