  3.   Michael L Payne Jr., in Find A Grave.

Michael L. Payne Jr., 90, of Hannastown, passed away quietly and peacefully with his loving family by his side Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He now is at home with the Lord in the arms of his wife, Holly. Born May 11, 1926, in Latrobe, he was the son of the late Michael L. Sr. and Rose (Loughner) Payne. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree; Hannastown Club; and Hannastown Volunteer Fire Dept. He was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co.

Michael proudly served in the Army's 87th Infantry Division, 345th Regiment Company L, during World War II. His family was the center of his life and to whom he was a very loving, devoted and proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved spending time in his garden, sharing his vegetables with his family and friends and teaching his great-granddaughters how to become gardeners, like him. Michael also enjoyed fishing, spending many hours teaching the sport to his family. He loved being with his great-granddaughters, Elysia and Carissa. "His girls," as he referred to them, were the love of his life and brought so much joy and happiness to his life every day. He loved playing with them and going to all their dance competitions. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2014 by his wife of 67 years, Angeline C. "Holly" (Mignogna) Payne; also three brothers, Joseph, Eugene and Charles Payne, and two sisters, Dolly Radford and Rose Ann Payne. He is survived by his two daughters, Linda Sok, of Luxor, and Susan Payne, with whom he resided; four grandchildren, Billy Bowers, of Hannastown, John Patrick Golobish Jr., of Ft. Myers, Fla., Jennifer Steele and her husband, Alan, of Ligonier, and Charlie Sok, of Greensburg; two great-granddaughters, Elysia Taylor Steele and Carissa Mae Steele; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion and pet, Lacey. Michael's family would like to thank the amazing doctors and nurses at Arnold Palmer Cancer Center and the IMU and ICU units at Excella Health Latrobe Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion during his hard-fought battle with cancer.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Michael from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601 (724-837-0020), where parting prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Church, Father Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
