Michael Logan is suspected of being a probable son of William Logan and wife Jane [Coulter] of Nicholas County, Kentucky. "William Logan, Senr." is listed near Michael on the 1830 U.S. Census page for Nicholas County. Additional research is needed to prove this relationship. Based upon the U.S. Census records, it appears that the wife of Michael Logan died before 1850, as she was apparently not listed with him in the household. Additional circumstantial evidence of Michatl Logan being the son of William Logan and Jane Coulter is the listing of a Jane Wardlaw in his household in the 1850 U.S. Census, as the Wardlaw and Coulter families had a close relationship in Augusta County, Virginia and likely to South Carolina after their migration there.
