"Mathew Skeen, minor child of Mathew and Jane Skeen, moved to Rowan Co. Mathew received land grants from the state, in Randolph and Rowan Counties, but chose to live near the Randolph Co line between Toms Creek and Cabin Creek watersheds. Mathew m. Rutha Lamar, dau. of James and Verlinda Osbourn Lamar. Mathew and Rutha were quite busy, Mathew acquiring land and Rutha taking care of 10 children."
