Matilda's ancestry remains "sort of" undocumented as she is named only in The Combes Genealogy… which also states that Matilda had a son, Jeremiah "Tight," by (her first cousin?), Jeremiah C. "Chunky" Combs (s/o Nicholas “8” and Nancy GRIGSBY Combs, Sr.); and sons, George and Hiram, by her first cousin, Clinton "Grizzler" Combs (s/o Mason & Jane RICHARDSON Combs). Jeremiah C. had a son Jeremiah by a Matilda according to his 1853 Perry Co, KY will, and was also the guardian of the children of George and Lydia, but how is it known that Matilda, mother of Jeremiah, Jr., has been correctly identified?
