Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633, p. 955, says Mary has sometimes been identified as d/o William Hilton, but had children too late (1675) to be his daughter bp. 1619. "Her parentage remains a mystery." Source:Noyes, Sybil. Genealogical Dictionary of Maine and New Hampshire, p. 3:333, is very close to Anderson's conclusion, noting some theories that she had a prior husband named Downer, points out that there were at least three other uses for the term "alias". Source:Downer, David R. Downers of America, p. 17, thinks she may be connected to the family of Robert and Hannah (Vincent) Downer of Newbury.
