Obituary

ESTEEMED RESIDENT - Answers Summons of Angel Of Death. -- After Two Weeks' Illness with Typhoid Fever -- Husband and Children at Bedside.--

Mrs. William Strauss passed peacefully away at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, at her late home, 558 Lake street, surrounded by the immediate members of the family.
She had been confined to the house for about two weeks with what proved to be typhoid fever. Until Monday night her condition had been such as to warrant the best hopes for a speedy recovery, but a change for the worse came, and she sank steadily until death came.
Mrs. Strauss, whose maiden name was Mary A. Strock, was born in 1842 at Champion, Mahoning county, O. She was married to William Strauss January 1, 1865, at Canfield, Ohio, and since 1884 had made her home in this city.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, Edwin of Riverside, Cal., and Clarence of this city; daughters, Mrs. W.B. Newell of Pittsburg and Mrs. S.M. Strong of Schnectady, N.Y. All but Edwin were with her at the last.
Two brothers, H.K. Strock of Boston and A.T. Strock of Jefferson, and two sisters, Mrs. W.J. Cool of Long Beach, Cal., and Mrs. Fred Green of Youngstown, are the living members of Mrs. Strauss' immediate family.
Mrs. Strauss was a loving and tender wife and mother and devoted to her home life, although possessing many warm friends who had come within the influence of that life.
The funeral will be held from the house at 2 p.m. Friday, February 12.
