Almeron was married FOUR times -- first to Mabel, then to a young Mary, then to Mary Higgins, probably about in 1849 or early 1850, after David Higgins died and Mary Higgins the first died, leaving behind a young child, Mary Higgins. (I am imagining that she died in childbirth.) Then Mary Randall Higgins Pierce died in 1853, and Almeron married Harriet to whom he was married when he died at a very ripe old age. They are all buried in Constantine cemetery, including the first child of David Higgins and Mary Randall, Harriet. Actually, David, Harriet, and two small children, are buried just a few feet away from Almeron and his four wives (and another child of Almeron's that died young). Lydia Randall is indeed Mary's sister, and she was deaf and dumb -- she later shows up (in 1870 or 1880 census) living with another sister back in the east. Imagine traveling across country in the 1850's as deaf and dumb!
