"… John Stickney … m. there (Newbury) Dec. 10, 1689, Mary, dau. of Sam'l and Rebecca Poor, who was b. in Newbury Oct. 21, 1671. … His grave stone with that of his wife Mary, are still standing (1869) in the burial ground at Newbury Old Town, near the entrance, a short distance from the meeting-house. … They bear the following inscriptions: 'Mr. John Stickney died 13 August, 1727, in his 62d year.' 'Mary wife, of John Stickney died 20 August, 1737, in her 65th year.'"
