There is no direct evidence placing her as a daughter of Christopher Kirk, whose will only names sons Anthony and James, wife Elizabeth and “my children” (under age). However, her son George Pollard’s will names his uncles Anthony and James Kirk, and makes them his executors. She married (2) John Carter by 18 JUN 1764, when both of them were made administrators of the estate of Thomas Pollard (Lancaster County, VA DW 17:50) and also per guardianship accounts for her children Thomas, James and Mary with John Carter as guardian (see notes under her children).

Her will, as Mary Carter, is dated 10 FEB 1792, and was proved 16 JUL 1792. It names her sons Thomas Pollard, James Pollard and daughter Mary JAMES. Executors were James Pollard and John James.
