    Mary Handy was daughter of Jonathan & Jana "Dashiel" Handy. She married John Turnley (1730-1808) in 1760 in VA. In 1783 the family moved to the French Broad River in Tennessee to the area that became Jefferson Co. They and their descendants lived on a number of "home" places up & down stream from Dandridge, TN including Mount Pleasant. After John died in 1808, Mary closed up their home at Beaver Dam & moved 2 miles up-river to live with her daughter, Elizabeth, wife of George Graham. She died there in 1829 & believed to be buried in Pine Chapel Cem.,Jefferson Co., TN
