Mrs. Mary Rogers, widow of the late Andrew J. Rogers, passed away last night at 9:45 after a lingering illness of six months, at her home south of Shelby.
Mrs. Rogers was the daughter of William and Anna Gould and was born at Cincinnati, O., December 24, 1859, where she grew to womanhood. She received her education in the schools of that city, being for several years a student in Woodward high school, where she ranked high in scholastic attainments.
On November 15, 1880, she was united in marriage to Andrew Rogers of Shelby, with whom she lived happily for forty-six years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away on December 2, 1926, also by a daughter Mrs. Olive Rogers Crum of Coldwater, Mich., on March 2, 1923; also by a son, Dr. Albert E. Rogers, of Seabeck, Wash., on August 2, 1930.
Two children Florence Harriet and Henry Eugene died in infancy.
She leaves to mourn her departure, a son, Dr. W. J. Rogers, Cleveland; two daughter[s], Mrs. Ira Brougher, Shelby, and Miss Mary Rogers at home. Also six grandchildren and three sisters, Miss Henrietta Gould of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Edward Maddock, Cincinnati, O., and Mrs. Jack Kane of Norwalk.
Mrs. Rogers was a lady of refinement and was possessed of a strong Christian character. She will be sadly missed by the members of her family and by a host of friends.
