[Hudson is apparently unaware of Mary's first marriage, hence the question mark, but assumes she was a widow when she married Andrew, presumably due to the "Mrs." used in the marriage record. He may have been reluctant to contradict Source:Van Wagenen, Avis Stearns. Genealogy and Memoirs of Isaac Stearns and His Descendants, p. 121, who identifies the wife of Andrew as a maiden Mary Stearns b. 1764, but this is belied by the petition cited on Andrew and Mary's family page showing her to be the widow of Nathaniel Stearns.]
