  3. The Dedham Historical Register, Vol. 3, p.1 59, notes that the death of Mary (Brock) Phillips is different in the town records (above, 2 Jul 1640) and the church records (following, 1 Aug 1640). The Dedham Church records, Vol. 2, p. 38, say "Md our deare sister Elizabeth [sic] Brock now ye wife of our br: Henery Philips in a lingering & long sicknes wasting hir body ye lord graciously supporting hir spiritt, wth ye apprehentions of his favour being further spent then hirself or friends were aware of she departed this life & slept swetely in ye lord ye 1t day of ye 6t m. 1640 & was interred ye day following." Also, note page 2:23: "Mary ye wife of our brother Hen: Phillips was received w'th good satisfaction & co'fort to ye XX 5't of ye 2'm 1640." [5 Apr 1640] As the mother, Elizabeth Brock, has an incomplete death record in 1652, it apparently is a clerical error for Mary, though the discrepancy in dates has no obvious explanation.
