    31 Dec 1925.

Martinus Skrove died at his home southeast of Brandon, Sunday, Dec. 20, with best hope that his name is written in the book of life. He was sick for a year with pernicious anemia. The last weeks he has been confined to bed.
Mrs. Skrove was born in Vardhalen, Norway, May 11, 1848. His parents were Terris and Ranhill Skrove. He came to America in 1868, at the age of 20 years. He first came to Goodhue County, where he remained for two years. He then moved to Jackson County, where he lived for five years and was there united in marriage to Miss Juleanna Skrove. From there he moved to Douglas County, where he has resided on his farm near Brandon ever since, with the exception of a few years in Canada, where he had a homestead. Mr. Skrove has gone thru all the hardships and struggles of pioneer life and could now in his old age see the fruits of his labor and enjoy the comforts of his fine farm home. Besides his wife Mr. Skrove leaves to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father, six daughters and six sons, four children having passed away several years ago. Those living are: Mrs. John Kyllo, Mrs, Edward Erickson, Mrs. Otto Erickson, Mrs. Holm, Ole, Taulo, and Sigurd of Canada, Mrs. Gust Schaubhut of Brandon village, Mrs. Helmer Peterson, Meyer, George and Tony of Brandon township, thirty-three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Theodore and P. O. Thompson of Brandon township. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 23, from the home and from East Moe church, of which the deceased has been a faithful member, Rev. Edw. Livingston officiating. The pallbearers were Gunder Winkjer, Geo. Botner, Erick Dahl, Olous Angen, Severt Wibstad and Engebret Lauthen.
