  1. ↑ 1.0 1.1 The will of Matthew Whipple dated 2 Dec 1738 names daughter Martha Hartshorn. Surely she is the Martha who was mother to John Denison Hartshorn b. 1736 according to Charlestown VRs, p. 327. The published VRs list the father as Thomas but no other record of a Thomas and Martha can be found. Meanwhile Source:Wyman, Thomas Bellows. Genealogies and Estates of Charlestown, Massachusetts, 1629-1818, apparently having additional information from a baptism record and probably reading the original VRs, says the father is Ebenezer Jr. Dr. Ebenezer Hartshorn and Martha have additional children in Concord. Dr. Ebenezer Hartshorn d. 1771 and Martha was granted administration (the only document in the probate file, #10531).
