    Whipple, Matthew, Esq., [died] Jan. 28, 1738, a. 80 y.
[Age at death gives a birth about 1658. However, this is not the Matthew that was born 20 Dec 1658 according to Ipswich VRs, since that was the posthumous son of Matthew (1635-1658), and Blaine Whipple says the son then died in 1663. It is also not the Matthew, son of John, born 29 May 1664 according to Ipswich VRs. The father of this Matthew, Cornet or Capt. John, had a son Joseph 6 Mar 1664 and so could not have had another son Matthew 3 months later. The 1664 birth belongs to Lt. John and his second wife, Elizabeth Woodman. The birth of this Matthew was apparently unrecorded.]
