Stockton, California, Friday, August 17, 1917 Clipping sent by Karen Waste Linden Women At Work for Soldiers Red Cross Organization Will Be Perfected and Women Will "Do Bit"

Women of Linden met recently and discussed a method for organizing the Red Cross work, which has hitherto been done individually. A committee was elected, consisting of Mrs. W. F. Coffin, president; Mrs. Dave Board, vice president; Miss Lena Fine, treasurer, and Mrs. J. F. Treat, secretary.
The women decided to make garments and to knit, working under directions from Stockton headquarters. Mrs. Board was asked to take charge of garments and materials. Mrs. Coffin consented to take charge of the knitting, and will start classes in knitting sweaters, mufflers, wristlets and socks as soon as the latest United States circulars are received.
All women in the vicinity of Linden are urged to unite their efforts with those of the Linden club. Every Monday afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30 Mrs. Coffin and Mrs. Board, or someone representing their department, will be at Mission hall to distribute garments to be taken home to sew, and to distribute knitting, also to receive finished work.
Any one of the committee will receive membership fees for the American Red Cross. All desiring names enrolled on the original list of the Linden club will attend the meeting at Mission hall next Monday, August 20th, at 2:30 p.m., or send their subscription fee at that time, as the list will be sent to Stockton headquarters the following day. Membership fees will be received from men, women and children.
A number of little girls are interested and plan to make handkerchiefs for the Red Cross.[Board.FBC.FBK.FTW]
