Mariah Crockett Craycraft Obituary from the January 30th, 1919 issue of the Bath County, KY newspaper

On January 25th, Mrs Mariah Craycraft after an illness of ten days, passed from earth and the ones that loved her to the better world beyond. Her immediate family who are left to mourn her loss are as follows: Her husband, Mr. J. Tilford Craycraft, six sons, James, Eli, Charles, Matt, Oll and Ott Craycraft and her daughter, Mrs Emil Rogers. She had thirty grand children and six great grandchildren. Aunt 'Ri as she was familiarly and affectionately called was seventy years old. Her life from girlhood to advanced age was crowned with good deeds. She and uncle Tilford who survives her, during their whole career have been a benediction and a blessing to the Kendall Springs community. Her life has been a pattern of good works to foster welcome if praise, she seemed entirely forgetful of self in her untiring ministrations to others. She seemed to love everybody and everybody loved her.

Although aunt 'Ri was of delicate mold her energy, her good cheer and resolution never failed her. On one occasion she swam Slate Creek on horseback to administer to her sister. She was wonderfully interested in serving her community . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . one. (some of this was unreadable) Her family, including her grandchildren form a nucleus for one of the strongest country churches in Bath County. Mrs Craycraft will always be remembered with tender affection. She has gone to her reward. With sincere sympathy for those who were dearest to her we wish them God's blessing.
