Facts and Events
Maria Brookman was born in about 1837 or 1838 at Chelsea, a western suburb of London in the county of Middlesex, daughter of Ann Brookman, formerly Caley, and her husband James Brookman, a brewer's draysman. Maria appears in the 1841 census living with her parents and siblings at Butlers Place in Southwark, to the south of London. She was not at home for the 1851 census, but was living with her recently widowed mother at 9 Butlers Place in the 1861 census.
It appears that Maria married in 1861, particularly telling in the entry on the UK FreeBMD is that in the quarter of June 1861 there is Maria Brookman getting married at St Olave. There are 2 males on the same entry, however further research on FamilySearch and Mundia indicates that she married Henry Caley who is most likely Maria's cousin who is at the Brookman home and listed as unmarried on census night in April 1861 and would appear to soon become Maria's husband.
