Family Stories

From Cheryl Courrege Burguieres

Notes written by Cheryl Courrege Burguieres, August 1972:

"Marguerite, born Sept. 21, 1881, married Stephen Viator Nov 26, 1902. She died on March 29, 1970 having reached the age of 89. Tante Magit outlived her husband by many years and also their child, Louis J. Viator."

Azalea Bushes

When Marguerite (Magitte) moved into her mother's house, she sold the azaleas from her house to her sister Lucy Courrege Benoit. Lucy had a florist go to New Iberia to dig them up and replant them in her yard in Vinton. They thrived and bloomed for years in front of Lucy's house.
