"..... married in Wrentham, Mass., December 19,1727, Margareet Phipps whom Morse the historian of Sherborn and Wrentham says was prob. the daughter of John Phips or Phipps of Wrentham and sister to John Phipps of Sherborn, and grand niece of Sir William Phipps, who distinguished himself by discovering the wreck of a Spanish treasury ship after it had been under water for 44 years, near the Bahamas, from which he recovered gold and silver to the value of 300,000 pounds sterling which he carried to England and gave liberal portions to the Crown and to the King of Great Britain, in consideration of which he was knighted and was appointed the Governor of the Colony of Mass."
