1813 - Baptism records date of birth. Name is spelt "Maltiward" in register and gives mother's maiden name.

1838 - Labourer, living in Crowfield, Suffolk, when he married.

1840 - Malteyward CROWE born Wertheringset 1814, took on a 35 acre holding at High Common, South Lopham.

1841 - Living in Fen Corner, South Lopham, with wife and two sons. No occupation recorded.

1861 - The census shows Malteyward as farmer of 154 acres.

1863 - Occupying a house and land (37 acres, 2 rood and 14 perches) by the Fen Road in Blo Norton, owned by George WRIGHT. Rates payable £1 13s 4d (per quarter). (Poor Rates)

1866 - Farmer. (Robert's marriage)

1870 - Malteyward now has five sons and two daughters; he placed his son-in-law Robert FOOTER in a 27 acre farm at Hopton.

1879 - Farmer living in North Lopham. (Two children baptised at age 22 & 24 at South Lopham)

1891 - With wife at Church Farm, The Street, North Lopham. Farmer. Widowed daughter-in-law and grandchildren next-door but one. Three grandsons working as agricultural labourers, probably for him.

1894 - Burial: Maltyward CROWE, aged 81, of North Lopham. Mary died a few weeks later and they are buried together. Probate: Maltyward CROWE of North Lopham Farmer died 02-11-1894. Administration (with will) Norwich 08-03-1895 to Edgar CROWE, Farmer, £255/1/3d.
