Per info found on Cyndislist.com (8/17/00), Virgilina was incorporated in 1900 in Halifax Co, VA. Early name was Tuck’s Cross Roads. I need to do further research to determine whether Virgilina was in NC or VA in 1899 (Halifax Co, VA abuts Granville Co, NC). This may explain why I’ve had such trouble finding related Ragland’s in the US census schedules 1870 and 1880.
