Facts and Events
Mabel Burdette MILLER, the first child of Frank and Hannah Miller, was born November 23, 1900. Almost certainly she was born at home with the aid of a midwife, like most of her siblings, because her birth was not recorded with the county. She lived with her parents until she married Ira Clifford Jaquet (pronounced Jakewet) in Sterling, IL, on July 5, 1924. She and Clifford were living in Waukegan, Lake County, IL, during the birth of daughter Betty in 1925, and in Henry Co., IL, during the birth of son Clifford in 1928. They lived in Toulon, IL, in 1943 when the delayed birth certificate of their son Walter Merle was generated. Prior to moving to the Bel-Wood Nursing Home outside Peoria, she and Ira lived at their home at 309 Bryan Street, Peoria, IL. On June 6, 1968, Mabel fell in the nursing home and broke her hip and her health deteriorated. Mabel died August 4, 1970, at the age of 69 of a heart attack (myocardial infarction) and is buried in the Parkville Cemetery in Peoria. Her social security number was 361-09-4527; she was a housewife during her adult years. Ira Clifford JAQUET (SS#359-10-9987) was born January 5, 1900, in Lorraine Township, Henry Co., IL, one of six children of Henry SIMON and Mary (SOMMERS) JAQUET, both natives of Henry County themselves. Henry was a farmer. Ira’s first marriage was to Vera ROBBINS, about whom nothing is known. His marriage to Mabel was in 1924; they had two children- Betty and Clifford. Daughter Betty (Jacquet) LIVENGOOD reports that Ira ran a grocery store and later managed apartments. He lived in Peoria for 16 years prior to his death in 1963 at the age of 63. He died after four days confinement in St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL, of a cerebral vascular accident (acute recurrent cerebral thrombosis) complicated by cerebral arteriosclerosis and general arteriosclerosis and terminal pneumonia plus diabetes mellitus. He had never been in the military. His wife was the informant for his death certificate., , , References
