    Dated Hampton, Windham Co., Ct., March 10, 1854. ... "Rev. Ludovicus W. was paster of the church and society in Hampton over 31 years. Rev. Ludovicus Weld was born at Braintree, Mass, Sept. 12, 1766; his father was the Rev. Ezra Weld, for more than 50 years the paster of the Congregational church in Braintree. The Rev. Ludovicus Weld graduated at Harvard University, in 1789; studied theology with his father, and commenced preaching in Epping, N.H., in 1799, where he received a call to settle as pastor...[H]e was ordained, Oct. 17, 1792 [at Hampton]. In 1824, his health having become impaired, so that he felt impelled to ask a dismssion from his people, he was dismissed March 2, 1824.... He soon after removed to Fabius, Onondaga Co., N.Y., where a part of his wife's relations resided... In 1842 he purchases a residence in Belville, New Jersey, near the residence of his youngest son Theodore D. Weld, where his health steadily declining, he died... October 9, 1844."
