  5. 5.0 5.1 The only source for the first name of Willis Kirkley's first wife is the newspaper advertisement advising Thomas Meador's heirs of probate proceedings. It should be noted that the same advertisement also names a "Louise Harp". It seems unlikely that Thomas Meador had two daughters named Louise or Louisa.

In the 1850 US Census, Willis is listed as living with a woman named Eliza who is also listed as being the same age as Willis. Her relation to Willis unknown, particularly since there is no evidence that Willis and his first wife had children after about 1840.
