Facts and Events
Folklore states that Louis Wiggins' mother was married to a HAMPTON, but Mr. Hampton killed a revenue man, so they were looking for him. The family was sitting on the front porch breaking string beans and the revenuers walked up and shot Mr. Hampton. To save the family from embarrassment, their mother took her maiden name, Wiggins, back so all the children went by Wiggins." This was told to them by Louis Wiggins' sister, Mary, in 1970. |
