Known as Ella, she married Thomas Sheridan Ash on 11 Jul 1888 in Wirt, WV. According to documents, Ella's father was there in person to approve her marriage to Thomas. She was 17 and Thomas was 23.

By 1910, Ella's father was living with her and Thomas along with 2 children.

By the 1930 census, Thomas and Ella had 3 kids but were now also raising 4 grandchildren. Their youngest daughter had died in 1929 from chronic pareuchymatous nephritis. The youngest granddaughter was only 2 years old. (Nothing is known about the husband.)
