Lloyd Eugene Picard passed away November 10, 2015 in Oak Park Heights, MN. Lloyd was born February 19, 1918 in St. Paul the son of Royal Joseph and Theresa Mary (Gibis) Picard. He graduated from Humbolt High School in 1936, attending the University of Minnesota where he graduated in June 1944 with a chemical engineering degree. He started working for 3M Company in August 1940; retiring from 3M in 1982. While at 3M Lloyd contributed to several key patents. He married Betty Lou Marilyn Anderson on 27 July 1946 in St. Paul. They moved to St. Mary’s Point and he built a home on the St. Croix River in 1948. Betty Lou passed away 18 July 1995 in Ellsworth, WI. Lloyd’s favorite pastimes included gardening; camping, canoeing, ham radios, automotive repair; and was an active leader with Boy Scouts. He loved his family and was happiest when he was traveling, dining or celebrating with his wife and children. Lloyd and Betty Lou had the following five children, Jeffrey (Sue Butterfield) Picard of Eau Claire, WI, Jill Picard (Daryl Bothwell) of Danville, CA, Jonathan (Kathleen Kemper) Picard of St. Mary’s Point, MN, Gregory Picard of Afton, MN and Marilee Picard (Mark Weeks) of Swan Valley, ID; six grandchildren, Heather Picard (David Scheuerman), Heide Picard, Ryan Picard, Kelly Bothwell, Rebecca Picard (Cameron Loftus) and Sarah Picard; five great-grandchildren, Carly, Annika, and Kaylyn Scheuerman, Jacob Beckfield and Riley Picard. He is also, survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Anderson (William Sargent) of Long Beach, CA, five nephews and six nieces. Besides his wife and parents, Lloyd was predeceased by his brother, Jerome Picard in 2002; his sister, Virginia Fuchs Anzelmo Donnay in 2004; granddaughter, Sophie Picard in 1989 and nephew, Michael Anzelmo in 2010. A gathering of Friends and Family Monday, November 16 from 1-4 p.m. at The Swanson Family Chapel at Boutwells, 5600 Norwich Parkway, Oak Park Heights. Interment Fairview Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or University of Minnesota Cancer Research Fund.
