Facts and Events
The HICKS resided in Franklin Co. for more than 40 yrs. Asa, Tilmon HICKS, Littleberry HICKS & family migrated to western Ala. In 1848 Littleberry sold his interest of his father estate to Tilmon HICKS to move on westward. After a brief stay in La., Littleberry & family settled in Weldon Tx., southwest Houston Co. (East Texas) They remained until 1865 moving across the county line to Kittell Cutoff in Walker Co. Tx. Littleberry was a farmer & overseer for some of the large landowners of the area. Littleberry filed for land: Field notes of a survey of 160 acres of land for L.B. Hicks by venture of the presumption law of Texas legislature & approved 12 Nov. 1866. Survived Apr. 25 1867. by F.M. Hicks & W.A. Tiptan. Land was in Walker Co. Tx. 25 miles N. of Huntsville, Tx. Signed: 3 (his mark) L.B. Hicks. Tommy Knox said L.B. was not listed head of household & didn't get the land even though he was paying taxes on it. |
