LILLIE BELLE PARKE, daughter of ZENITH ARTHUR (ARTHUR) PARKE and OLIVE LULU LOCKWOOD, was born on 14 Jul 1891 at Elgin, Kane County, Illinois. Hyde/Butt family records list her birthplace as Rock Island, IL. However, both her death certificate and her daughter Olive's marriage application list her birthplace as Elgin. Lillie was the older of two sisters. Her sister Francelia was four years younger than her. Sometime around the age of ten, Lillie's parents moved from Elgin to Chicago. She would live the rest of her life in various locations around the city.
She married CHARLES BUTT JR., son of CHARLES BUTT SR. and MARY VAN STONE, in 1909.S7 Just after they married, he and LILLIE BELLE PARKE appeared on the census of 1910 at 4636 Vincennes Avenue, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. They lived as lodgers in the same apartment building as Lillie's grandmother Francelia Brown Lockwood and her Aunt, Francelia's daughter Helen Lockwood. Charles and Lillie were the parents of eight children, five sons and three daughters.
Both Lillie and her sister Francelia died young. Francelia died was just 40 when she died. Lillie died on 26 Jul 1947 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, at age 56, of complications due to Diabetes. She was living at 735 E 88th st when she died. This was formerly the home of her parents. It's the house she grew up in.
