She graduated from the Story City High School in 1910 and attended St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn., 1912-13, where she completed the teacher's course in Public School Music. In 1913 she toured Norway as a member of the St. Olaf Choir. She also attended Des Moines College, Des Moines. She taught in Story Co. rural schools and music and grades in Gilbert, Iowa, and Story City, Iowa. She was secretary of the Young People's League of the Des Moines and Eagle Grove Circuits, 1916.
