Enlisted in army August 20, 1864, company H 128th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and served on guard of the prisoners on Johnson's Island until July 17, 1865. per History od Hardin Co., OH.

Per Levi's Civil War pension file, he was 5' 10" tall, had a dark complexion, gray eyes and dark hair. A page in he file dated April 23, 1913 stated that since his discharge in July of 1865, he had lived in Hardin Co., OH until the last three years, which time was spent at Belle Center, Ohio where he now lives.
