Leroy Earl Hitchcock son of L. P. and Viola Rose Hitchcock was born at Menlo IA on November 16, 1878 and passed away at Iowa Methodist Hospital Des Moines on March 1, 1961. He was married on March 18, 1903 to Kittie Mae Warnock who preceded him in death on September 14, 1957.

Leroy became a member of the Menlo Methodist church as a youth and served Christ faithfully in almost every position of leadership which the church provides.

In early years he was a teacher of the country schools of this community and followed the business of farming all his active life.

In Passing; he leaves his son Homer and daughter-in-law, Thelma, two grandchildren, Craig Hitchcock and Judith Motior, a great granddaughter, Michalle Annette of Radcliff, his sister Miss Emily Rose Hitchcock of Menlo.

A faithful servant of the Lord, benefactor to good works, and dutiful citizen, Leroy Earl Hitchcock will be greatly missed by the Menlo Community, its institutions and its people. Neighbors and close friends of Mr. Hitchcock have established the L. E. Hitchcock Memorial Fund which will be administered by the church he loved and served so well through the years. Persons desiring to contribute to this fund may leave their gift at the Menlo Bank or send to Mrs. Glenn Stevenson Menlo, chairman of the Memorials Committee.

Some of those from out of town who attended the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Jacobson and Cathy, Gilbert: Mr. and Mrs. William Stricker, Glidden; Mr. and Mrs. V.A. Walton, Ellsworth, Mr. and Mrs. A. Reeseter, Radcliff; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Shinn, Hebron; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tate, Mr. Ralph Keeling, Mr. Floyd Keeling all of Des Moines. Mrs. Eva Glasscock, Mrs. Flood of Winterset and others. Interment was at the Menlo Cemetery.
