NY Times, May 23, 1905 Death Ends Woman's Suit She wanted 4100,00 from the late Le Droict Barber for Breach of Promise.

When the suit of Anderson against Barber was called to trial yeserday by Justice Gildersleeve in the Supreme Court it was marked "abated." The explanation was made that the defendant, Le Droict Langdon Barber, died last Friday at West End, N.J. He was sued for breach of Promise of marriage by Mis Anna T. Anderson, a manicure, who sought to recover $100,000 damages.

Mr. Barber as a son of Amzi L. Barber, head of the Barber Asphalt Company. According to Miss Anderson's complaint she became acquainted with him while she was beautifying finger nails in a downtown office building in 1901. Mr. Barber had an office in the building.

Miss Anderson alleged that six weeks after meeting him he told her he was going to Euroe and on his return intended to marry her. She swore that he bought a ring for her at Tiffany's before sailing, and that he wrote several letters to her, but about the time she expected him to return to New York he married a young woman in Austira.

A breach of promise of marriage case cannot be pressed against the estate of a defendant, so the suit was marked on the calendar "abated." That settles it.
