Laura Louise Anderson, 95, Trenton (formerly of Houghton Lake), died Jan. 7, 2015, at Parkside Estates in Trenton, with her family at her side.
A service was held Jan. 13 at St. John Lutheran Church, Houghton Lake, with the Rev. William Winter officiating. Burial will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery. Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel, handled arrangements.
She was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Coleman, the daughter of Ray and Opal (Smith) Mainprize. She was raised in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School.
She and William R. Anderson were united in marriage Oct. 7, 1939, in Coleman. In 1948, they moved from Pontiac to Houghton Lake, where they owned and operated Anderson Resort. Her husband preceded her in death in 1986.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. She loved being around babies and children, especially her generations of grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband, Bill, were her mother, Opal Mainprize; father, Ray Mainprize; son, Larry Anderson; and brothers, Donald Mainprize and Bobby Mainprize.
Surviving are her children, Jim Anderson of Bullhead City, AZ; Diana (John) Calcott of Lake Odessa and Englewood, FL; and Dawn Bunkley of Eastpoint; daughter-in-law, Trudy Anderson of Mt. Pleasant; siblings, Lola (Bob) Bowman of Houghton Lake and James Mainprize of Houghton Lake; eight grandchildren, Joshua Saunders, Benjamin Bunkley, Caleb Bunkley, Samuel Bunkley, Aaron Calcott, Jodi Barr, Carla Anderson and Larry Anderson Jr.; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
