MRS. MONT. PATTON DEAD.
Beloved Asheville Lady Dies Early This Morning.
Mrs. Kate Patton, widow of the late Montraville Patton, was stricken with paralysis yesterday afternoon about 3 o'clock at her home on South Main Street. So severe was the stroke that Mrs. Patton did not regain consciousness, and she died this morning about 1 o'clock.
Mrs. Patton was a lady of most estimable qualities, and was beloved by a wide circle of the people of Asheville among whom she had lived for many years. She was Miss Kate McDowell, a sister of the late Maj. W. W. McDowell, and was born at Pleasant Gardens, in McDowell county. She was 71 years of age on her last birthday, November 16. She was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Four step-children of Mrs. Patton survive: Robert Patton, Miss Anna Patton, Mrs. H. M. Parker, and Private Jesse M. Patton, who is in camp with the A. L. I. at Raleigh.
The funeral services will be conducted at the residence tomorrow at 11 a. m., by Rev. R. F. Campbell, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. The interment will be at Newton academy cemetery.
